The Day We've All Been Waiting For

Ok I must admit that I'm rather excited today. If you are a movie fan at all then you are probably aware that Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith opened today. I've been a big fan of the Star Wars movies all my life so this is the culmination of that effort. I guess I'm not the biggest Star Wars fan out there since I don't choose to dress up like a Wookie or act out the scenes with all my friends, but I still derive a great amount of pleasure from watching the films. Hopefully this movie will far surpass the previous two which just couldn't quite match up to the original trilogy. I guess I will be finding out at 5 PM today. It sure is going to be hard staying focused at work though, that's for sure.

so what did you think?

Well as it turned out it was a good movie. Now George needs to learn to write some dialogue, but that was obvious even before this movie. The action scenes were awesome and the story was good too. It was great to see where Vader came from, so overall I'd give it like 8 out of 10 stars.

Dude! I SOOOO want to see this in English! I might have to wait awhile, but I'm determined to be patient! Seeing the Skywalker-to-Vader transformation in German just wouldn't be the same.

"Luke, ich bin dein Vater!"
"Nein!" ("Aua, meine Hand!")

...nope, just doesn't work.

I wonder if Luke was a product of the German education system?

Obviously not, otherwise he would have had the insight to know that he had a crush on his own sister.

Veralid point. So he must have been from Arkansas then, huh?

That's what YOU think!

Okay, so I did see it in German and ended up having nightmares, blech! I've been a fan of the original Star Wars ever since I first Star Wars when I was six months old. I cannot claim to have ever dressed up as princess Leia even on Halloween, but I can claim to have waited for hours in line to be one of the first in the theater for the re-release of the oldies. The first two were practically worthless in places, mostly due to the Annikens they cast, I thought, "hey, it can't be all bad in German because I won't have to listen to that Hayden Christiansen guy spit out his lines." Anyway, this comment is way too long but I just had to say--what was I thinking? Who wants to go see a movie where they know all these bad things are going to have to happen for the rebels to be in such a tight spot in Episode IV? It's like going to see a movie just to torture yourself--except for the light-saber action. Wasn't that General Grevious something?!

I wish I had a light saber. I would be so cool with the ladies then.

Oh, Matt, you don't need a light saber! Don't you realize that all you need is your Bubba teeth?

By the way, when do we get to read more Gambill wisdom? You haven't posted in for--like--ever!

Wish I could comment, but haven't seen it yet. I am one of those under-priviledged children who didn't ever see the original Star Wars, so once they started releasing the first three, I decided to wait and watch them in that order. Must say...I had to watch Episodes 1 & 2 with closed captioning so that I could understand what was going on. I might have to wait and do the same with Episode 3. I'll get back with you in December when it comes out on DVD. =) I've not been that impressed so far, but I have also been informed that Episodes 1 & 2 are the worst.

Well Stacey, you missed out then. The best part of watching them the way they were made is watching The Empire Strikes Back without knowing the history behind it. It really gets you. But I guess you'll survive.

Court-knee: I apologize for my lackadaisical attitude toward my blog. I will try to gain some inspiration soon.

Bri: General Grevious was an unusual critter.

Based on the fact that Herr Gambill's post about Star Wars was so far in the distant past, I submit that Herr Gambill got himself lost in a movie theater somewhere and hasn't been able to find his way out.

Most sincerely yours, with a craving for buttered popcorn,
